COSTA COFFEE INTERNAL MAGAZINE
We developed a global internal magazine for Costa Coffee using the Readz platform, where we designed, built and distributed the magazine to 10,000+ international Costa employees and stakeholders keeping them up-to-date with the latest company news, information and developments.
BRIEF
Due to Costa’s international expansion they were looking for an agency to design and build a digital internal magazine that would keep all Costa employees and stakeholders up-to-date with the latest company news and developments. The magazine would be sent out to over 10,000 staff globally, and would need to be accessible on all device types (desktop, tablet and mobile), be interactive and have restricted access to Costa employees only.
THE SOLUTION
We worked as an extension of Costa’s internal communications team to ensure the design reflected Costa’s culture, values and brand image. Once the design was finalised, we built the magazine using the Readz content creation platform. The Readz platform enabled us to distribute the magazine as a responsive HTML5 web app, which delivered a great native app style user experience, but worked on all contemporary devices and operating systems. We then secured the magazine to protect any sensitive company information by only allowing it to be accessed through a username and password function. In order to distribute the magazine, we created a Costa branded HTML email template and embedded the magazine link. The magazine was then sent out to all employees using an email marketing platform which could be easily tracked. The magazine was also made available through the intranet.
THE RESULTS
The internal communications team received extremely positive feedback from both business leaders and global employees. Measurements related to the usage of the magazine by Costa employees, tracked through Google Analytics, were also very positive. The average amount of time an employee spent reading the magazine was around 5 minutes, and there was a very low bounce rate. The Costa internal communications team were also able to use the magazine usage analysis to inform their decisions regarding content for future editions of the magazine.
